Just news for fans of the 70`s british comedy `Are you being served`.
It is without snark and a tear in my eye that I regretfully have found out the my favorite actor John Inman has passed away today.
Many people probably don't have a clue as to who John Inman was. Especially the American readers. He was one of the talented stars of British comedy series, "Are You Being Served?" Mr Wilberforce Claybourne Humphries came alive as John played his character as though somewhere out there the real Mr. Humphries existed behind a sales counter. His ambiguously gay character was enthralling and captured your heart. His catchphrase "I'm free!" became a staple in pop culture. The department store-based series ended in 1985 after 13 years of laugh out loud humor. John's talents extended beyond the sitcom and reached into the theater as well.
At the age of 71, John passed away today at St. Mary's Hospital in Paddington London. He had long been ill with Hepatitis A. His costar, Wendy Richard, visited him often and regards his passing as "being an end to his physical suffering."
He is one of the few actors I found to be brilliant and a master of the craft. Talent of his caliber is precious these days. He will be dearly missed.
Funny show I used to watch this and benny hill/dave Allen and Monty python with my dad as a kid, great stuff.

Yeah, he was great. Seemed like a real sweet guy, too. I'm sorry he had to suffer. Thanks for posting this news.
