These people have nuclear weapons... I'd rather not know what will happen. But I really hope that this madness won't affect the rest of the world.

I think Israel and a few others surrendered their nukes some time ago so, nuclear war does not seem to be a real possibility. Also, in terms of strategy, the theatre of war is far too small to warrant the use of such ordnance. Also, Israel, wrong or right, is not run by nitwits so, poisoning the entire area with fallout for 100's of years, not likely. Israels main export is fresh farm produce, FYI.
Having said that, this war is no less scary or potentially catastrophic. The complicating issue here is that Isreal is a nation state, with all the rights inherent with a nation (ie, can have an army, can use it to protect citizens, can enlist civillians to fight, can ration the nations resources etc) and they have declared war on Hezbollah who are just a group of people that happen to be militarisitic and be armed. Lebanon is the place (or one of them) where Hezbollah reside and when Israel responds to what they perceive as an attack, they bomb the infrastructure (and what and whomever else is in the way) of Lebanon. The poor Lebanese folk are suffering for a group they moslty are not supportive of.
IMHO, GWB wants Israel to knock out Hezbollah in Lebanon and will just sit on his hands until they either succeed or they fail. Put at its most base level, the pro Israeli (jewish) lobby in the US is more powerful than the Arabic one. You do th math. Diplomacy is not about wrong or right, its about pragmatism and shared interests. This may seem harsh but, it is the truth of the world we live in.
Hezbollah and other groups are puported to have support form Syria, Iran and Iraq. I mean, how the fark does one organise to get a rocket launcher ? Could you ? I can't. Hezbollah have thousands. Who paid for them ? This question is even more acute when you consider that Hezbollah are just a group. They don't have any industry to make money so someone, somewhere pays for their none to cheap upkeep.
On the other hand, Israel has encroached on non Israeli territory and has done little to lift the quality of life for the Palestininans.
What is truly the saddest thing about all of this ? IMHO, neither side wants peace. Not the Palestinians, the Israelis, Hamas, Al Quieda, Hezbolah and all the other extreme middle east groups of both persuasions. They all want each other dead. Utterly exterminated. No one here has a monopoly on moral high ground.
This is truly the politics of hate.

Hi all, The response from the Pope`s apology to muslims are slim, the Al-Qaida warned that its war against Christianity and the west will go on until Islam takes over the world. Thats just a segment of news,I think the Popes speech/apology wasn`t enough for the extreme muslims and I see alot of destruction.Sad,it really is what religion has always done in any way when `man` touched it. SAD.
