Vatican: Pope Will Address Abuse Crisis
Pope: Looking Forward to U.S. Visit
VATICAN CITY (AP) - The Vatican's No. 2 official says Pope Benedict XVI recognizes the damage and pain caused by the clergy sex abuse crisis and will seek healing during his U.S. trip next week.
Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone said in an interview Tuesday with The Associated Press that Benedict will deliver a message of "trust and hope."
The pope turns 81 during the trip. Bertone says Benedict is fit but could not meet all the invitations from U.S. cities and had to limit himself to Washington and New York.
Al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden recently accused the pope of helping in a "new Crusade," but Bertone says the Vatican has faith in American security services to keep the pope safe.
The cardinal is the Vatican secretary of state.
No offence to anyone but I can`t wait for the Pope`s opinion of the clergy sex-abuse.
A story from me,about the clergy,a couple of yrs ago I sought help through `GOD`,I went to a couple of church`s we have many and it was interesting,more for the old church`s the architecture that gave me that feel at the time.But in my neighbourhood we had a church that my mom went to,I was at the time having problems and through my mom I went to a clergy and talked to him.I did and found nothing inspiring.
My mom went to confession like she always did and told the priest about her stuff and this clergy told her she was going to hell and would never get to heaven,my mom was dating a younger gentleman at the time.I freaked out and I went over to the church it had a clergy school beside it and I blasted that priest like you have never heard such language.I will probably will go to hell for it (lol) but my mom was in tears after that session with the clergy.I really tore him apart collar and all,you don`t say anything to my mom.
That priest was the one I went to during my problems and I have to say I`m straight,but I have had men come on to me and I know the difference but this priest had tried to get close,even after the episode with my mom he called her to ask me to help with doing stuff,not saying anything,just know what I feel.
