Not exactly in the same category but just saw the Wizard of Oz. It was the remastered version. Beautiful color and great acting. Loved it.

Hey moondaddy how are you, You should rent it see it again,I could watch that flick anytime.Its being remade right now with Keanu Reeves from the Matrix but from what I have read it won`t deal with Nuclear stuff it will be dealing with the environment the Green issue.It might be interesting but you can`t beat the original,love B/W movies they have character love the depth of shades and you can`t beat the actor Michael Rennie.

We watched a couple last weekend. One was the Heartbreak Kid with Ben Stiller. It started out really funny but then totally fell apart about 2/3 of the way through. The other was The Darjeeling Limited which was much more interesting and consistent. Somewhat silly but generally watchable about three goofy brothers who go to India in search of enlightenment following the death of their father. Owen Wilson always reminds me of someone who time traveled from the 70s, sort of a Dennis Hopper throwback. I appreciate a movie that can make its point w/o violence. It seems like a lot of movies and TV today use violence for comic effect. It always makes me cringe.

Yes, that would make me cringe too. I really wish that violence wasn't such a huge part of the media these days. That is one of the reasons I don't watch much TV anymore.

Man I loved that stuff when I was a kid. Especially the original books by Edgar Rice Burrrows. Ate them up. He also wrote a great series of stories set on Mars. Fantastic fun.

Hi all,
For all romantics,I just watched the move `The Notebook`,very well done and abit of a tearjerker,,a sample;
The movie focuses on an old man reading a story to an old woman in a nursing home. The story he reads follows two young lovers named Allie Hamilton and Noah Calhoun, who meet one evening at a carnival. But they are separated by Allie's parents who dissaprove of Noah's unwealthy family, and move Allie away. After waiting for Noah to write her for several years, Allie meets and gets engaged to a handsome young soldier named Lon. Allie, then, with her love for Noah still alive, stops by Noah's 200-year-old home that he restored for her, "to see if he's okay". It is evident that they still have feelings for each other, and Allie has to choose between her fiancé and her first love.
Just a simple plot with a twist,anyways a nice little romantic flick.

We just saw this very remarkable version of Beowulf directed by Robert Zemekis who has made many interesting and successful movies like Forrest Gump, the Back to the Future series, Who Framed Roger Rabbit and Castaway. It was made entirely with CGI, a digital technique in which sensors placed on live actors are used to input digital information into animation programs and all final cinematic images are created in the computer. He also used this technique in The Polar Express. It gives a mythic, almost cartoon like quality to the film and gives complete freedom as far as settings, costumes and effects. This movie has it's flaws and some people do not like the artificial quality of CGI. It also contains some fairly graphic violence which is not something I normally watch but I have to say the film did keep my attention which is more than I can say of most films I see. The special feature ncluded in the DVD shows how the movie was made and is quite fascinating.
