Hi,can`t wait to watch this, love Sam Cooke; PBS documentary 'Sam Cooke - Crossing Over' shows Dylan's influence The PBS series American Masters will air a one-hour documentary, Sam Cooke: Crossing Over, later this month. The L.A. Times reports that a version of Cooke singing Bob Dylan's 'Blowin' In The Wind' is one of the highlights: (Cooke) was profoundly influenced by the social commentary of Bob Dylan's "Blowin' in the Wind," and a highlight of this "American Masters" piece is the footage of him singing it, trading Dylan's folk arrangement for a rippling R&B groove. . . He was so inspired about the role music could play in fomenting social change that he wrote "A Change Is Gonna Come . .. " Dylan's sometime collaborators, The Band, covered "A Change Is Gonna Come" on their 1973 LP Moondog Matinee. Dylan himself repaid the compliment by singing the song at the legendary Apollo Theater, on March 28, 2004. This performance was first broadcast on the NBC TV program Apollo at 70: A Hot Night In Harlem, 19 June 2004. Here's the line-up : Bob Dylan (vocal & piano), Freddie Koella (guitar), Larry Campbell (guitar), Tony Garnier (bass), George Recile & (possibly) Richie Hayward (drums & percussion). ---------------------
