Watch Doors Documentary Trailer! The first trailer for When You're Strange, the new documentary charting the whirlwind journey of The Doors, can now be viewed online. The feature-length film, directed by Tom DiCillo and narrated by Johnny Depp, features previously unseen footage of the L.A. psych-rockers in their mid-'60s heyday. In fact, the movie is made up entirely of archive reels of the band in rehearsals, in the studio, onstage and behind the scenes. Chronicling The Doors from their Venice Beach beginnings, through worldwide success and the disintegration of self-styled Lizard King frontman Jim Morrison, the film has been endorsed by remaining band members John Densmore, Robbie Krieger and Ray Manzarek. All three have been closely involved with the project from day one. Depp's narration is absent from the current trailer, but will be in place when the movie gets its official release in Europe and the US later this year. It's certainly a few million miles away from Oliver Stone's 1991 biopic. As Densmore tells Martyn Palmer in the forthcoming issue of MOJO, "I said to Oliver, You know, I don't remember all of those naked girls running up on stage".
